NFC Element

The NFC element is used to enable a project’s interface within the Atmosphere app to access information from NFC tags when touched by a device. Each time an NFC NDEF record is read, a trigger for that record type occurs for you to send that information to other elements.

The NFC element is located in the Element Toolbox within Studio’s Application tab.

Properties

The following properties can be changed for the NFC element:

Name

The name of the element.

Triggers

The following triggers are available to execute events from within the NFC element:

Triggered

Execute an event when the source element connected to the NFC triggers.

Empty Record Read

Execute an event when an empty record is read by the NFC reader. The output value will contain null.

Well Known Record Read

Execute an event when a well known record is read by the NFC reader. The output value can be used to query the string of data from the record.

MIME Media Record Read

Execute an event when a MIME type record is read by the NFC reader. The output value will be a binary buffer.

<blockquote class=info”>

If you want a string parsed from the data, you can use the JavaScript `value.toString()` in the output value property's `value` field.

</blockquote>

Absolute URI Record Read

Execute an event when an absolute URI record is read by the NFC reader. The output value will contain the string-parsed form of the URI (e.g. https://atmosphereiot.com).

External Record Read

Execute an event when an absolute URI record is read by the NFC reader. The output value will contain the binary form data for the record’s payload.

Unknown Record Read

Execute an event when an unknown record is read by the NFC reader. The output value will be in binary form. How this information is parsed into something meaningful is up to your discretion.

Unchanged Record Read

Execute an event when an unchanged record is read by the NFC reader. The output value will contain null.

Reserved Record Read

Execute an event when a reserved record is read by the NFC reader.

This trigger should not happen, as the reserved value is for future expansion of the NFC NDEF record standard.

Abilities

The following abilities are available for the NFC element when its source element triggers:
