Platform Update v1.3.4

The 1.3.4 release includes support in Atmosphere Studio for the second generation of the Microchip Curiosity PIC32MZEF series, with the Microchip Curiosity PIC32MZEF 2.0 Development Board. Unlike its predecessor, the 2.0 doesn’t include an onboard Wi-Fi module and instead provides an additional MikroElektronika mikroBUS Click port to expand its functionality. The 2.0 is treated like a new variant of the Curiosity PIC32MZEF in Atmosphere and has its own project type, but note both supported Curiosity boards operate largely the same and are interchangable while navigating through its supporting getting started documentation.

This release also introduces expanded support for Zigbee networks with a significant update to the Atmosphere IoT Agent, which can now be configured to operate as a gateway for Zigbee applications. While the agent is running, it can act as the gateway for the Zigbee network’s coordinator device and send received data to Atmosphere through the computer’s Internet connection. A simple walkthrough is available in the Guides section of the Developer Hub, so check it out if you’re interested in exploring even more possibilities for building Zigbee applications with Atmosphere.
